BIM infrastructures: for an approach based on environmental benefits
Long overshadowed by building BIM, infrastructure BIM is now developing rapidly. The national MINnD project, specifically dedicated to the development of BIM over the entire infrastructure cycle, makes it possible to address the issues necessary for its deployment. However, BIM infrastructure is still a specialist subject. It is often considered as a project deliverable, produced at the end of the chain, and not as a new way of organising the design and construction process. A better appropriation of BIM infrastructure by the entire chain, from the client to the operator, is now necessary in order for its promises to become a reality.
To move up a gear, we need to approach the subject of BIM infrastructure from the point of view of the benefits of this process, and not just from its technological or organisational aspects.
Developing the benefits of BIM for the ecological transition is today an imperative for the setec group, a multidisciplinary engineering company, which has made the ecological transition a priority with its "Engineers and Citizens" approach. The presentation of the setec group's BIM infrastructure offer at the InfraBIM Open 2021 exhibition will illustrate how to tackle this challenge in concrete terms.
